Gaffer typeface (designed by GBH) was originally created for player names and numerals in the African Cup Of Nations in 2011, however due to its popularity it was used up until the last world cup. The concept behind the type design came from gaffer tape goal posts on walls in urban playgrounds. This short film was made to celebrate the typeface's success, capture the lo-fi inspiration behind the lettering and to show off some of the finer typographic details. Be warned, the catchy soundtrack mixing tearing tape with iconic fan sounds really gets stuck in your head.
